LAWRENCE - Hazel Stearn Holpp, 98, a native of Trenton, and a resident of Lawrenceville since 1946, died peacefully Sunday at the Lawrenceville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Daughter of the late Sydney Frederick Stearn and Sarah Alice Bates Stearn, wife of the late Norman I. Holpp, and mother of the late James N. Holpp, she is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Anne H. and Thomas Chamberlain of Mt. Holly; her daughter-in-law, Carol Ezzo; three granddaughters, Stefanie Sperling Farrell, Stacy Sperling White and Michelle Holpp Panfile; and two great-granddaughters, June Anne White and Jessie Amber White.
Hazel received her Bachelor of Science in music education from The College of New Jersey and later spent several summers in graduate work at Temple University in Philadelphia. For many years she taught public school music in eight different elementary schools in the Linden Public School District.
Beginning in April 1950, both she and her late husband were active members of the Slackwwod Presbyterian Church.
Funeral services for Hazel will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, 650 Lawrence Road, Lawrenceville, with the Rev. Dawn Flippin, Pastor of the Slackwood Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Princeton Memorial Park in Robbinsville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. For directions or to leave a condolence for the family please visit www.poulsonvanhise.com.
